About the Gallery
When I was granted the wonderful opportunity to display my photography at Theatre in the Round, I was ecstatic; even more so to have been given the time slot that runs concurrently with Agatha Christie’s ‘Go Back for Murder.’ As an actor, I have performed in numerous productions here, including last season’s ‘And Then There Were None’, so to have this chance to share with you my off-stage creative endeavors, is a delight. Thank you, TRP!
At first, the request that my work be of a “mysterious or creepy nature” to coincide with the theme of the show worried me. I thought I would not have enough options or variety in my portfolio that would present themselves as such, but as I began to dig in, I found that mysterious and creepy images are not always synonymous with scary; they can be eerie, beautiful, touching, melancholy. They can be reminiscent of love or loss or loneliness, remindful of history or specific events, or evocative of memories. I love travel, landscape, nature and wildlife photography, and my goal is to see the world and photographic it in a way that reaches people or speaks to them on a personal level. I am ever evolving in my ambitions. I also create promotional images for local theatre companies and have been published in National Geographic.
I do not have a particular style per se, I just allow my emotions to guide me. In that regard, I approach my photography the same way I approach a role. How does it feel to play another person? What details can I characterize that showcase the role in the context of the life of the play? I have found that the two artistic pursuits have complemented each other well.
